"Thanks to Robin and the Auto Emporium crew for a fantastic finish on my new pony. Inside Outside and Window tint perfection."
— Dave Gray, Mooloolaba

Why Choose Car Window Tinting From Auto Emporium

Queensland delivers some of the highest UV levels in the world — and untinted glass absorbs all of it. Beyond cracked dashes and faded upholstery, prolonged exposure contributes directly to driver skin damage, a risk the Cancer Council flags for everyday commuters here.

The right film rejects infrared (IR) heat before it enters the cabin, cuts glare on the Bruce Highway, and maintains crystal-clear optical clarity from the inside out. All three of our UltraGard ranges are lifetime-warranted and engineered for Australia's climate.

"We strip bubbling tint off cars every week. Ninety percent of the time it's cheap dealership film that couldn't survive a single QLD summer. The adhesive breaks down, the dye turns purple, and you're paying to remove it before you can start fresh. Do it once, do it right." — Robin Glesk, Auto Emporium

  • Carbonite: Premium carbon-enhanced film with a deep sporty finish. Colour-stable, signal-safe, and colour-matched to most factory glass
  • Oxide: High-performance hybrid film combining carbon and alloy-oxide layers for stronger heat rejection — ideal for darker-coloured vehicles or west-facing windows
  • Fusion: Nano-ceramic technology with graphite and titanium nitride construction. The highest heat rejection available — the correct choice for prestige vehicles or anyone who wants maximum cabin comfort
  • Tail light tinting from $150: Smoked tail light film for a cleaner, blacked-out look — popular add-on alongside chrome delete and blackout packs

Our Tinting Process

A high-quality tint is only as good as its installation. Pre-shrinking is critical: curved glass creates tension in flat film — if you skip this step, the film holds stress that eventually causes peeling or bubbling from the edges. Our controlled studio environment ensures a perfect finish.

  1. 1

    Glass Preparation

Meticulous deep cleaning of all interior glass surfaces to remove dust, grease, and contamination that cause bubbling.

  2. 2

    Precision Cutting

Film is digitally cut, then heat-shrunk on the exterior of the glass before installation.

  3. 3

    Dust-Free Installation

Application of the film in our climate-controlled, dust-free studio, ensuring a flawless, bubble-free finish every time.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — this is the most common tinting myth. VLT (Visible Light Transmission) only measures how much visible light a film blocks. The heat you feel is driven by infrared (IR) radiation, which cheap dyed films do almost nothing to stop.

In practice, a 35% VLT Fusion ceramic tint will reject more heat than a 5% VLT standard dyed film. You can have a lighter, fully legal front window and a dramatically cooler cabin — because it's the ceramic nano-particles doing the work, not the darkness.

  • Front side windows: No darker than 35% VLT.
  • Rear side windows & rear windscreen: Up to 20% VLT.
  • Front windscreen: Top 10% visor strip only, minimum 35% VLT.

Tradies: Vans and dual-cab utes with dual exterior mirrors may be permitted up to 5% VLT on rear windows.

  • Small cars & hatchbacks: $250 – $550
  • Sedans: $300 – $650
  • SUVs, 4WDs & utes: $350 – $800+

Fusion ceramic starts from around $400–$500+. Cheap film rarely survives a QLD summer without bubbling.

Standard dyed or carbon tint adds privacy and reduces glare at a lower cost. Ceramic tint (Fusion range) goes further — blocking up to 99% UV, rejecting significantly more IR heat, and remaining fully non-conductive (no effect on GPS, phone signal, or toll tags).

Typically 2 to 4 hours, depending on vehicle size, glass complexity, and whether old film needs removing first.

No — by design. A flawless result requires a climate-controlled, dust-free environment. Even trace airborne dust during installation causes imperfections that surface weeks later. All tinting is done at our Caloundra West studio, where lighting, temperature, and air quality are controlled.

Yes. Bubbling and purple discolouration are signs of adhesive failing under UV. We use steamers and chemical solvents to safely strip old film — including around rear defroster lines — leaving glass clean and ready for a fresh installation.

Keep windows fully closed for at least 3–5 days while the film bonds and cures. Rolling them down early can lift the edges. In summer, run the air conditioning instead of opening windows for ventilation.

Wait at least two weeks, then use a soft microfibre cloth with an ammonia-free glass cleaner. Standard household window sprays often contain ammonia, which degrades the film adhesive over time.

Only metallic films can interfere with signals — and we don't use them. Our Fusion ceramic range is non-conductive: GPS, mobile reception, Go Via / E-Way toll tags, and dashcams are completely unaffected. We also position dashcam mounts before cutting film to avoid coverage issues.

This is a grey area that depends on how the modification is assessed. QLD Transport does not permit tail light tinting that reduces the brightness of your brake, indicator, or reverse lights to below the required luminosity standard.

In practice, light smoked films that preserve the red/amber colour and remain clearly visible in daylight are widely used and rarely flagged during roadworthy inspections.
